The Women’s Running team were delighted to take home one of two awards for Anthem Publishing on Friday at the PPA Independent Publisher Awards. Following our relaunch in January earlier this year, which involved a complete redesign of both the physical appearance and editorial tone of the magazine, it was hugely exciting to win the Launch/Relaunch of the Year award at the annual event.
The category was so competitive this year, with a shortlist that was nine nominees strong, that the judges chose two winners, one for a business-to-business publication and the other for a business-to-consumer publication, which the Women’s Running team took home.
“Our judges thought this was a particularly strong relaunch,” stated the PPA body, “elevated from being a simple redesign by the review of the magazine’s entire voice, clearly defined new sections, and cross-media content. Strong research underpinned the whole approach which has a contemporary and engaging design. Overall, a brilliant relaunch which has succeeded at all levels. A stand-out winner in a very competitive category.”
The event saw further success for Women’s Running, with Esther Newman being shortlisted for Editor of the Year and our August 2019 issue for Front Cover of the Year.
Our sister title Long Live Vinyl took home the second award for Anthem Publishing following a very successful Record Store Day campaign. Well done to all the the publications who were shortlisted and thank you to the hosts – we’re already looking forward to next year!
