Mini Mermaids is a fantastic organisation with one admirable focus: to change the lives of girls and young women by shifting the internal experience and the way they interact with the world around them through innovative character-driven curriculum. Mini Mermaids train for a local 5K challenge through a structured 8-week programme where the focus is not on how fast the girls are, but on helping them find their happy pace and develop a lifelong love of movement and activity.
This Saturday 5th October, in London and Leeds, the Mini Mermaid running club is holding its 3rd Annual Dawn ‘Til Dusk Challenge. It’s a combination of two all-day relays running in London and Leeds, along with a Go Fund Me component.
The relays move from sunrise to sunset. Runners simply sign up for a leg of the challenge, which are held in Roundhay Park in Leeds and in Highbury Fields in London. There’s no set distance, but rather a set time, to help keep the batons moving throughout the day. This year, they’ve added a virtual element, so supporters outside of Leeds and London can join in.
Through the challenge and the Go Fund Me campaign, they’re raising funds to activate their programme in areas of need across the UK.
